KIPAWA LIBERMANN PRE &
PRIMARY ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL

About Us

Our Story

Kipawa Libermann Pre & Primary English Medium School was established through the generous support of the Wilkinson Family Foundation, with construction beginning in mid-2009 and the school officially opening in January 2010. Located in Kipawa, Dar es Salaam, within an underserved community, the school was founded to provide children with access to quality English-language primary education—an opportunity that was previously out of reach for many families.

Since its opening, Libermann School has played a vital role in transforming lives by creating access to education, nurturing potential, and offering hope for a better future. What began as a vision to serve the community has grown into a respected institution committed to academic excellence and inclusive learning.

HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL AND ITS LEADERSHIP REGIME

Kipawa Libermann School is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, and is managed and operated by the Priests of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost Fathers).

THE BEGINNING (2007)

The school was established in 2007 as a Nursery school under the leadership of the Kipawa Parish. At that time, the Parish Priest was Father Rogath Kimario (who is now the Bishop of the Same Diocese), and his assistant was Father Fredrick Musunji. The Headteacher of the nursery school at that time was Tr. Cecilia Halfani, who has remained as a teacher at Kipawa Libermann School up to the present.

Primary School Registration (2010)

In 2010, the school was registered to provide Primary Education under Father John Marandu, assisted by Father Godfrey Mgonja. The Headteacher of the Primary school was Edith Kimena. These leaders continued until 2012.

2012, Father Thadeus Siya and his assistant Father Simon Mtulo were appointed to run the Parish and school under the leadership of Headteacher Sr. Imaculate Shirima and her assistant Sr. Ruth (the school accountant) from the congregation of the Evangelizing Sisters.

Leadership Transition (2012 – 2013)

Father Mkulima was appointed to serve Kipawa for one year in collaboration with Fr. Mashaka. When Fr. Mkulima left Fr. Kitira was appointed to replace him as assistant Parish priest.

Sister Immaculate & Sister Ruth were transfered, in replacement the leadership of their congregation appointed Sister Honoratha Tesha to take over as the Headteacher and Sister Patricia seve as the school accountant from the Evangelizing sisters until 2016, when they decided to leave the school due to lack of convinient house for themselves as sisters (nuns).

From 2017 to 2020, the Headteacher of the school was Seraphina Rusibamayila, under the leadership of Father Joseph Mashaka and Father Kitira.

New Administration (2021)

In 2021, Father Renatus Assenga took over with his assistant Father William Kalande. The Headteacher was the late Sr. Damaris Matheka from the congregation of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

Current Leadership (2025)

As of 2025, Sr. Josephine Mwanza from the congregation of the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus is the Headteacher of Kipawa Libermann school, under the leadership of Father Renatus Assenga and his assistant Father William Kalande.
